In 1967 the home is located in it’s current building, compliet with all requirements for conducting meaningful activities and life. The building is high 3 stages. There are bedrooms, playing room,educational rooms and different special offices on each floor.
The capacity of home is 75 children. For them take care 13 teachers,2 phychologists, 2 doctors, 3 social-workers, 3 hygienists, 1 snipper, a launderer, a repair and maintenance worker and 3 cooks.
Children anre separated in three groups depending in their age and gender. The number of children in bedrooms varies between 2-4 children in room. Bedrooms are furnished with beds, cupboards, chests, lockers for personal stuff.
The main goal to people who work in the Home is individualising and encrasing the quality of children’s care throug satisfying their own needs:
Health – formating healthy way of life, hygiene habbits, providing relax;
Creating conditions for satisfying children’s cultural, religios, language and ethnical needs;
Preparing children for independent way of life;
Support and encourage children to develop their skills and talents in their free time.
In the Home are accomodated children between 7 to 18-20 years. Only 7 of them are with TELK and 15 are with special education needs.
Since 2001 there is a process of reform in Children’s Homes with one main goal – de-institutialising of children – that means transition from nurture activities and educating the children in Home to organisation activities and providing community based servises as an alternative of institutional acomodation and care.
The reform of the institution is addressed to the needs of children in general, not the needs of the institution.
To do this process is required a phased reorganization of space and lifestyle in order to introduce the model ” Life in a small group. "
We made a small step – we created “Safe space” – where live 6 children. The next step is opening a social service – transition home where young people – over 16 will prepare for independent life.
We are currently seeking sponsors for the opening of this the social service, must be differentiated and it’s necessary to furnish this space.
