- Over 5000 children live in the Bulgarian foster homes, half of them are from Bulgarian descent
- every year 900 new-borns are abandoned
- over 2000 children live in the homes for babies
- 18 homes have been closed since 2009 г.
- there are 19 foster homes for children on age between 3 and 6 years old and 49 for children between 7 and 18-20 years
